Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

48 Volt Challenge

AEC-Q200 is an international standard developed by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) to manage automotive passive electrical components. It specifies requirements for temperature, humidity and resistance to thermal shock – with different requirements for the passenger compartment and exterior areas.

Voltage spike protection is included, and the standards set for 48-volt components are much higher than those for 12-volt components. For the full-scale 400-volt or 500-volt batteries that pure electric vehicles will use, the standards are even higher.
